Business of HYPE

HYPEBEAST brought Jon on to produce, direct and edit their flagship podcast - Business of HYPE. Previously the show had been audio only - so a large part of the effort was creating the infrastructure for a video podcast. In just three months Jon revived the podcast - finding and executing the contract for a new Host (Angelo Baque, Creative Director of Awake NY), project managing and conceiving a sponsored segment for Bulleit Bourbon (the season’s sponsor), running pre production and research, finding guests, mixing live sound, and editing all audio and video assets for the season. The five-part limited series features conversations detailing the successful careers of well-known creatives, brand-builders, and entrepreneurs from various corners of streetwear culture.

Spotify | Branded Audio Producer - Podcasts

Jon was one of the key producers innovating at Spotify as they made their big push into the podcast space. He was part of the team responsible for strategizing how to create tiered ad formats and offerings at scale so that they could play across Spotify’s new high profile, exclusive shows.

He went on to write, produce and project manage ads for these shows which included: The Joe Rogan Experience, Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard, Last Podcast on The Left, Dissect, and many more.

In the process, he worked with massive clients such as McDonald’s, TikTok, Chase Banking, and Coca-Cola as well as the usual podcast suspects - Squarespace, MeUndies, and every boxed food subscription service under the sun.

No Film School | Senior Producer

At No Film School, Jon produced, hosted, wrote and edited every single one of the 300+ episodes of the No Film School Podcast that aired during his tenure. The show amassed over 3.4 million plays in just three years, doubling annual play numbers and subscribers each year.

He started the show from scratch, successfully garnering a New and Noteworthy distinction from Apple Podcasts and expanding programming over time to keep a consistent two-show-a-week schedule for over three years.

He identified, booked, and interviewed talent for the show who would later go on to win Academy Awards, Independent Spirit Awards, and multiple major festivals including Sundance, SXSW, NYFF, TIFF and Cannes. These guests included THE DANIELS, Yorgos Lanthimos, Jim Jarmusch, Ruben Ostlund, Mike Leigh, and more.

No Film School | “The Guy” Case Study

In 2018, Jon took all the learnings he had found working at No Film School and shot his first short film The Guy. He raised funds for the film himself, largely through the audience he had built at No Film School as the creator of their podcast. His podcast “The First Short: Case Study of Jon Fusco’s Short Film The Guy” was his means of sharing those learnings with the audience that helped him to make his film.

You’re Not the Boss of Me Productions

In 2017, Jon founded his own production company and entered the freelance world as a producer of podcasts, audio, film and video. He has created podcasts for Hinge, the Ford Foundation and more.
